  • "The Adept Tradition in Modern Living"
  • "Pythagorean Disciplines for Modern Living"

Discussed is the Adept tradition in the Mystery Schools, and applications of the Pythagorean disciplines for self-control in daily life — a must in our hectic modern age.

p. 48 -- "Before a man could enter upon the philosophic life, it was necessary for him to quietly, sincerely, and under the most sacred and solemn obligation, renounce all hatreds; all disaffections of any kind toward any man. It was necessary, before he was admitted, for him to take the oath that there was no nation or individual on earth against whom he held resentment for any reason. This in itself would probably add five years to the life of the average person today, because our resentments, our antagonisms, are forever depleting us, not only directly, but indirectly. They are the cause of numerous chronic ailments which are burdening us very heavily today. Therefore where antagonism, criticism, dishonesty, and condemnation go uncorrected, individuals are less enlightened, families less secure, nations less prosperous, and governments less effective".

“Education at any age is a lifelong dedication to the improvement of character, and the enlargement of understanding. There is no reason why PRS should not be remembered like Plato’s Academy, but if it is to continue, the society must make use of the most advanced technology available. I now envision a university of the mind, and think that through proper organization we can bring this message of enlightened living to a much greater audience throughout the world.” — Manly Palmer Hall
