​The Philosophical Research Society is a nonprofit cultural organization that promotes research into mythology, the humanities and metaphysics, and maintains a collection of over 30,000 rare volumes housed in a stunning two-story library. Its historic 1930s-era Mayan Revival buildings in the heart of the Los Feliz neighborhood are among L.A.'s most recognizable architectural landmarks, with ample on-site parking available. Over the years PRS has hosted thousands of lectures, concerts and events with artists, authors and thinkers including writer Alan Watts, architect Richard Neutra, author Marianne Williamson, musician Korla Pandit, scholar Huston Smith, PRS founder Manly P. Hall and many others. Its lecture room, library and auditorium are decorated with beautiful antiquarian art and sculptures from around the world.

General Terms
  • PRS is located at 3910 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90027, at the corner of Los Feliz Blvd. and Griffith Park Blvd.
  • Parking: there are a maximum of 25 spaces available on-site for rental events, depending on the date, time and duration of the event and PRS staffing needs.  Please discuss with PRS ahead of time. There is also free street parking available on Griffith Park Blvd. (no parking for street cleaning on Wed. and Fridays from 12 - 3 PM on alternate sides, please check signs.)
  • The PRS buildings are historic landmark structures, so please respect and treat them kindly. Nothing can be taped or adhered to the walls, floors, ceilings or furniture. Please inquire before moving any furniture.
  • Pre-payment for rentals must be received in full at least 1 week before your event.
  • If dates are reserved in advance, notice of cancellation is required 2 weeks in advance unless due to COVID-19 health department regulations.
  • A walk-through with PRS staff is required before all events or film shoots.
  • Renters for large events, concerts, film shoots etc. must provide an insurance certificate for $2 million liability (i.e. $2 million aggregate and $2 million each occurrence), naming the Philosophical Research Society, Inc. as additionally insured.
  • There is a Cleaning/Loss/Damage Deposit required of $150 for rentals, which will be refunded if the premises are returned in the same condition prior to rental.
  • A PRS site rep is required for all events for an additional fee. The rate is based on each event and if the times fall outside of our normal operating hours. For large events, more than one site rep is required. 
  • For events that require technical assistance an AV tech is available for an additional fee. 
  • If you wish to serve alcohol on-site, you or your caterer must provide PRS with a copy of your ABC permit before the event. You will be asked to provide all permits for additional services including valet, filming, etc. 
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the PRS grounds.
