Many of astrology’s most potent tools are too technical to have much appeal to the public. Hence the popularity of Sun-sign astrology and the monthly hype around Full Moons—all that is required of the casual enthusiast is to look up at the night sky, or to check their birth date against a list of twelve Zodiac signs. The nodes of the Moon are one such aspect of astrology that have a far more storied history than their technical explanation would suggest: the North Node is the point where the path of the Moon intersects with the ecliptic moving up, and the South Node is the point where the path of the Moon intersects with the ecliptic moving down.
