Like the ouroboros, the serpent that devours its own tail, the Universe is full of examples of circular periodicity. We observe this in the movement of the stars and planets. We witness it in the solstices and equinoxes. And, if we can allow for a circular rather than linear conception of time, we also see it in our cycles of birth, death, and rebirth in a unique form of reincarnation known as the eternal recurrence.
