Contributing Artists
Mitch Horowitz is a historian of alternative spirituality and one of today’s most literate voices of esoterica, mysticism, and the occult.
Mitch is a writer-in-residence at the New York Public Library, contributing lecturer at the Philosophical Research Society, and a PEN Award-winning historian whose books include Occult America; One Simple Idea; The Miracle Club; Daydream Believer; and the forthcoming Uncertain Places. The Washington Post says Mitch “treats esoteric ideas and movements with an even-handed intellectual studiousness that is too often lost in today’s raised-voice discussions.” Mitch’s books have appeared in Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French, and Chinese. He received the Walden Award for Interfaith/Intercultural Understanding. The Chinese government has censored his work. MitchHorowitz.com // @mitchhorowitz23 |

THE SEEKER'S GUIDE COMPANION BOOK TO 'THE SECRET TEACHINGS'
Mitch provides a compelling and illuminating twelve-chapter guidebook to Hall's encyclopedia arcana. Mitch surveys, clarifies, and updates a wide range of topics in Hall's epic volume, including Pythagorean mathematics, Egyptian symbolism, the nature and origin of Tarot cards, the meaning and mystery of strange beasts, the role of Freemasonry and Rosicrucianism, and the foresight of much of Hall's esoteric scholarship. This is a guidebook to treasure alongside the Great Book.

THE INITIATES OF THE FLAME: THE DELUXE EDITION FOREWARD
Originally published in 1922, The Initiates of the Flame is Hall’s first exploration—and still one of his most powerful—of myth and symbol. Its pages shine a light on the inner meaning of symbols including the pyramid, holy grail, flame of wisdom, ark of the covenant, all-seeing eye, sword and stone, the elements of alchemy, and other gateways to the unseen world.

In this special talk, author Mitch Horowitz lays out a unifying vision of the “uncertain places” in which our culture finds itself as UFOs go mainstream; clinical evidence for ESP mounts; occult and alternative disruptions sweep religious life; and the traditional sciences, from quantum mechanics to neuroplasticity to string theory, suggest a world that responds to, or is shaped by, perception.

In this special presentation, Mitch trenchantly considers what we have learned about the creative powers of the mind in the past century of modern science and spiritual inquiry and how these insights relate to both historical traditions and the urgencies of daily life. He also explores the problems and limitations that the mind-power thesis brings. Do not miss this probing and revelatory new vision of mind metaphysics.

In ‘The Hermetic Dawn,’ Mitch investigates Hermetic wisdom, explores its sources and controversies, and reveals Hermeticism’s authentic meaning and personal uses for us today. He argues that the ancient philosophy of Hermes may hold exactly the keys modern people are seeking to a universalistic faith of inner development, karmic values, and personal power. RENT ON VIMEO |
The Parapsychology Revolution: What a Century of Psychical Research Reveals about the Powers of the Mind
In this digital event, historian of alternative spirituality and popular voice of esoteric ideas Mitch Horowitz explores the extraordinary implications of parapsychological findings. Current understandings of the mind, Mitch argues, are reshaping our conception of what it means to be human as much as Darwinism did during the Victorian era.
