The PRS Artist-in-Residence ProgramThe Philosophical Research Society’s Artist-in-Residence (PRS AIR) program is offered annually to a selected artist, artists, or collaborative artist group. For the duration of one year, the AIR(s) will be supported in the creation of a proposed project via access to the Hansell Gallery for use as a studio space, as well as special research access to PRS’ library collections. The residency will culminate in an exhibition—a solo show and/or an AIR-curated group show under a proposed theme. On-campus opening and closing events will be organized with PRS and may feature artist talks, performances, live music, etc. and may utilize PRS’ campus spaces beyond the Gallery. The AIR is encouraged to develop additional public programs, both virtual and in-person, with PRS throughout the year. The AIR is an unpaid residency that receives support in all the aforementioned capacities, as well as online promotion and connection to artists PRS has worked with in the past.
To apply for the 2022 PRS AIR, complete the online application form. Submissions are accepted between January 1 and March 31. Recipients are announced in July and residencies are effective for one year following their announcement. Applicants working in any variety of mediums and content will be considered and evaluated in accordance with PRS’ vision, mission, and values:
