Moon Phase Astrology

For the lunar-ruled month of Cancer, I’d like to introduce a type of astrology that we don’t often hear about: Moon phase astrology. While many astrology aficionados are aware that they have both a Sun and a Moon sign, Moon phase astrology looks at the relationship between these two primary celestial bodies. Were the Sun and Moon traveling close together when you were born, as is the case during the conjunction that happens at the New Moon? Or were they rather opposed, as happens monthly at the Full Moon?
There are distinct differences between the waning and waxing Moon personalities; waxing folks are here to assert and grow something, while waning folks do better at accepting the world as it is, or at dismantling outworn systems. Unlike practically every other area of astrology, which divides the sky into twelve signs, Moon phase astrology divides its cycle into eight. The pioneering 20th century astrologer Dane Rudhyar was the first to publicize this technique in the 1960s, but many other modern astrologers have followed suit.
