Holy Pools, Wells and Mystical Waters
By Mark Storer
Rituals around water are found in nearly all cultures, in every part of the globe. Our reliance on water for life is central to who we are, and it flows into every part of humanity, sustaining our lives and livelihoods. And like all natural forces, it can either build us up or tear us down. Drought and flood top the list of all catastrophes, and too little or too much water can leave societies in complete disarray.
But water has importance far beyond our material needs; it is part of our most holy stories. In rituals dating back to the beginning of time, sacred pools, rivers, and baths provide healing and hope, forgiveness and faith, salvation and sanctity.
Ireland is thought to be the country with the largest number of sacred pools or wells. Some 3000 holy wells have been counted there, and the mythology that surrounds them goes well back into the country’s pagan period.

Nothing comes from nothing. Manly Hall’s vision for the All-Seeing Eye was entirely supported by contributions from its readers who paid for their subscription with gifts made according to their means. Manly Hall wrote,
“This magazine is published and distributed privately to those who make possible with their financial support its publication. The magazine cannot be bought and has no fixed value. Like all of the ancient teachings which it seeks to promulgate, it has no comparative value, but the students must support it for its own intrinsic merit.”
