WATER: Blood and Heart of Earth
By Raïna Manuel-Paris, Ph.D
“Amidst a world increasingly disoriented and at war with itself, each person carries with them the seeds of a unique and valuable story trying to unfold. The youngest part of each psyche still longs to find the holy waters that can ease the pain of living and make life whole and meaningful again.” – Michael Meade
Water is life. It is healing power and transformation. In the Christian tradition water can be purification, as is the case with the baptismal water that washes away original sin and admits a child into the Church—the Corpus Christi.
The Gospel of John quotes Christ’s words to Nicodemus: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again of water and the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” And in the Revelation of John: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal . . . on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month” (22:1–2).
But water can also be destruction, as in the flood from which only Noah and his family escaped. Water has many correlations. Christ walked on water and transmuted it into wine. These miracles can be seen as transcendence of the earthly condition.

Nothing comes from nothing. Manly Hall’s vision for the All-Seeing Eye was entirely supported by contributions from its readers who paid for their subscription with gifts made according to their means. Manly Hall wrote,
“This magazine is published and distributed privately to those who make possible with their financial support its publication. The magazine cannot be bought and has no fixed value. Like all of the ancient teachings which it seeks to promulgate, it has no comparative value, but the students must support it for its own intrinsic merit.”
