Welcome to the September issue of The New Journal of the Philosophical Research Society. At the fall equinox, the sun rises exactly due east and sets exactly due west. The day is balanced between light and dark, as it is in spring. But in the spring we looked forward to the optimistic season of the warming sun, long days, and a fruitful earth. Now, the equinox promises longer nights, the gathering of the harvest, and the gradual approach of winter. It is time for the prudent to prepare for the cold, even while the heat of the sun is still on us.
This year the astronomical equinox takes place on the 23rd September. It is a day of gratitude and hope. Primordial gods blessed the harvest, and our ancient ancestors made offerings to them to ask for help as they worked to produce the abundance of the earth. We at PRS are sincerely grateful to you for your support of the New Journal. With your help—and only with your help—we are able to present outstanding metaphysical writing, seeking spiritual truth as it was presented to us in our ancient past, unravelling the mysteries of the present, and preserving it all for future generations. We are reaching an expanding audience as people spread the word, but it is prudent to plan for the future—tell your friends about the good work we are doing at PRS. |
